It’s become increasingly difficult, in our age of near-universal video surveillance, to commit a crime without it being recorded. And so we find ourselves watching this brief but terrifying act of violence perpetrated in a Brooklyn building’s elevator a little more than a week ago.

Police are still searching for the shooter, who fired once, striking a 25-year-old man in the torso, Gothamist reported. That victim is in stable condition at Kings County Hospital.

Anyone with further information about this incident—which unfolded inside 940 Gates Avenue, an apartment complex that straddles the neighborhoods of Bushwick and Bedford-Stuyvesant—can call NYPD‘s Crime Stoppers Hotline at 800-577-TIPS, visit NYPDcrimestoppers.com, or text a tip and “TIP577” to 274637(CRIMES).
