This should be Ben Affleck’s finest moment: we’re under asteroid attack from every quarter of space, and yet there he is calmly doing the rounds of award shows for Argo instead of saving the damn planet. “Russian Fireball Won’t Be Last Surprise Asteroid Attack,” shrieks the normally-phlegmatic Space.com, and what does Affleck have to say? “I was so fortunate to work with a great team. I’d like to thank my agent, my mom…”

Clearly, it’s up to us to save ourselves.

It’s possible, however, that we’re not as screwed as it first appears after a weekend in which multiple meteors plummeted to Earth in Russia and California, and an asteroid did a close fly-by. Indeed, Redditor shitbread has a new vision for glasnost, a hands-across-the-planet effort mashing up two politically disparate states: the former Soviet Union and the current capital of entertainment. It has 2,713 points and 44,343 upvotes with 41,585 downvotes on Reddit.

The implications are clear: Tink is a foreign agent. Who knew?
