Recent national tragedies have filled our Facebook feeds with heart-wrenching posts of grief and mourning.
But not all tragedies get the same level of attention on social media—especially, if you’re a Westerner. It’s not that you don’t want to care about the daily suffering of distant developing nations, it’s just, well, harder to care.
