After months of speculation from fans and chipper “We’re not re-shooting—well, maybe just a little!” updates from the director, we finally have a real, full trailer for Ant-Man.

It’s…well, it’s real, and it’s a trailer.

What can we say? Nothing says “mixed messages” like the dramatic swell of an orchestra as we zoom in on…a close-up of digital ants lifting a penny.

The glimpses we’re getting of this movie continue to leave us baffled about whether Marvel has really taken what was once a wry Edgar Wright comedy and tried to repackage it as a weighty superhero drama. Despite all the unavoidable touches of irony around the name Ant-Man, so far everything else about the movie makes it seem like your average bland white guy action flick—just with occasional shrinkage.

Hey, at least we finally have proof that Evangeline Lilly is actually in the movie!

So far, fans seem ambivalent. Reactions have ranged from “garbage” to cautiously optimistic, with a few outlying shrieks of enthusiasm.

There are still plenty of unanswered questions. We’ve seen no sign of vintage superhero Wasp or her S.H.I.E.L.D. counterpart Agent Carter. We already know Peggy Carter will cross over from her TV show in order to appear with Iron Man‘s dad Howard Stark in some of the movie’s flashback scenes. But if the rumor is true that Wasp, alias Janet Dyne, is being killed off in this film, expect to see plenty of outraged fans.

At the end of the trailer, the villain Yellow Jacket derails a Thomas the Tank Engine.

Let’s hope that train wreck isn’t a metaphor for this movie.
