When it comes to classic strategy games, the Age of Empires franchise—which recently celebrated its 20-year anniversary—tops many players lists as one of the best. It’s simple mechanics, entertaining campaigns and challenging battles make it one of the most lauded real time strategy games out there. Fans of the series were thrilled at the announcement of the “definitive version” of the original, set for re-release on Oct. 19, and now they have even more to look forward to: Age of Empires 4.
The announcement trailer doesn’t give many details, so, for now, most excited gamers will need to make due with the news that Age of Empires 4 is in development. Microsoft will be working with Relic Entertainment on the newest addition, and it has high hopes that fans and newcomers alike will be blown away by the upcoming game.
