Jennifer Aniston sparked a backlash online for sharing a Christmas ornament engraved with the message, “Our first pandemic 2020.”

The post showcasing the ornament—shared to her Instagram Story—didn’t specify whether the decoration was her own. Still, she’s facing a firestorm online from fans and social media users roasting her for making light of a pandemic that has killed over 300,000 people in the U.S.

The ornament is a custom-made design sold by an Etsy shop called Rustic Raleigh owner, Brittany Sutton, told Insider on Sunday.

The image sparked mixed reactions. The majority of those weighing in, however, call out the actress for seeming to make light of the pandemic.

“‘Cheers to our first pandemic of 2020, where millions of people died! let’s celebrate that on a Christmas ornament!’” one Twitter user wrote.

Others, meanwhile, defended Aniston. Some said that she’s previously shared Instagram posts expressing empathy toward coronavirus victims. Aniston has also urged people to wear face masks and follow public health guidelines.

Aniston had not publicly responded to the criticisms or addressed whether the ornament was hers.
