Airport employees say they were fired over viral TikTok video

'All of our duties were done, so we decided to make a little video.'

While some employers go out of their way to make sure their employees are happy and comfortable doing their jobs, others seem to see any second spent on enjoying a work day as a personal affront and an overall negative omen.

Four ex-workers at the Fresno Yosemite International Airport learned the hard way that their bosses fell into the latter category.

The men filmed a 15-second video dancing very casually around seemingly empty parts of the airport. It soon went viral on TikTok, which unfortunately meant people at the company that contracted them saw it and immediately fired them.

“I don’t even understand what’s such a bad thing about what we did because we’re giving positive promotion for this company,” Dannon Kredo, one of the men who was fired, told KPGE.

While it may seem understandable to fire workers who are slacking off all day on their phones, Kredo says that wasn’t what happened here.

“The plane for the day was already done, all the luggage was taken care of, all of our duties were done, so we decided to make a little video,” he said.

Tommy Chan, who was also fired, echoed his story: “We were done with work, we had 30 minutes left, we were like let’s make a video, whatever.”

And while the former workers’ video may have proven to be good press for the airport, the retaliation against them isn’t being looked upon fondly by folks online.

“Count me in to flood their phone lines with complaints over this crap,” @_PocketThot tweeted. “This is why people make fun of Boomers and Karens. Wanna mess with someone’s livelihood and income, we can play that.”

“That’s fucked up. Fuck that shit,” tweeted @revengeloser, who originally shared a tweet with the video that also went viral, jokingly captioned: “This is why my exiting flights in Fresno are always being delayed.”

Though the men were actually contracted and subsequently fired by another company that works with Fresno Yosemite International, the airport itself still readily condemned their 15 seconds of fun.

“In the video, the employees’ inappropriate behavior in the work environment displays poor judgment and does not reflect the conduct expected of individuals working at FAT.

The company employing these individuals has taken corrective action concerning the parties involved, as well as instructed the removal of the unauthorized video from social media.  FAT is working with the company to retrain its staff on appropriate behavior and to prevent these types of events in the future.”

Obviously it’s horrible for employees to have some harmless fun once they’re done with work for the night. It’s much better to stare aimlessly at a wall and wait for the seconds to tick by until they can finally clock out. That’ll keep your employees happy, sane, and ready to do the exact same thing tomorrow.
