After months of speculation, Sony has confirmed the title of its new Spider-Man reboot, Spider-Man: Homecoming.
Tom Holland will make his debut as Peter Parker in Captain America: Civil War next month, a crossover deal that may lead to some Marvel Studios characters having similar cameos in Sony’s Spider-Man franchise. Fans will be happy to learn that Spider-Man: Homecoming will not be another laborious retelling of Spider-Man’s origin story but will instead move quickly onto new adventures.
While both of the previous Spider-Man franchises began with Peter Parker in high school, the new reboot is thought to be more teen-oriented than the last. Tom Holland is a more youthful presence than Andrew Garfield or Tobey Maguire, and there’s a persistent rumor that the new trilogy will follow Peter through his last three years in high school.

“Homecoming” is also the title of a brief storyline in the Amazing Spider-Man comics, when Peter Parker returned home from the first Secret Wars in 1984.
Fans are already speculating that the new comic will be some kind of adaptation—particularly since the comic version of “Homecoming” included Tony Stark, who is linked with Spider-Man in Captain America: Civil War—but all we know for sure is that the movie is about Peter Parker “trying to find his way home.” Tantalizingly nonspecific.
