President Donald Trump gave a baffling, off-color interview on Friday with Fox & Friends where he praised North Korean leader Kim Jong-un. “He speaks and his people sit up in attention. I want my people to do the same,” Trump said on the White House lawn.
It was a strange morning.
The president used Twitter earlier to comment on the release and findings of an inspector general report about the FBI‘s role in the 2016 presidential election—but he seemed most jazzed about what Fox & Friends was talking about.
The report, which criticized former FBI Director James Comey and revealed more anti-Trump messages between two FBI agents, was called a “total disaster for Comey” by the president on Friday morning. Trump also commented on the text messages between Peter Strzok and Lisa Page, two FBI agents who were romantically involved, and said they would “stop” Trump from winning the presidency—fueling “deep state” conspiracy theories that are harbored by many of the president’s most ardent supporters.
“FBI Agent Peter Strzok, who headed the Clinton & Russia investigations, texted to his lover Lisa Page, in the IG Report, that ‘we’ll stop’ candidate Trump from becoming President. Doesn’t get any lower than that!” the president wrote in a series of tweets. “The IG Report is a total disaster for Comey, his minions and sadly, the FBI. Comey will now officially go down as the worst leader, by far, in the history of the FBI. I did a great service to the people in firing him. Good Instincts. Christopher Wray will bring it proudly back!”
FBI Agent Peter Strzok, who headed the Clinton & Russia investigations, texted to his lover Lisa Page, in the IG Report, that “we’ll stop” candidate Trump from becoming President. Doesn’t get any lower than that!

Following those tweets, the president turned his attention to Fox & Friends, a morning talk show that the president has been known to favor.
First, the president teased making an “unannounced trip” down to the crew that was filming in front of the White House, which he later did. Trump also began rapid-fire retweeting segments from the show involving former Rep. Jason Chaffetz (R-Utah).
In a matter of minutes, the president retweeted six tweets from the Fox & Friends account, including one that showed the texts from Strzok and Page where one of the agents says they’ll “stop” Trump from becoming president and another that casts doubt on Special Counsel Robert Mueller‘s investigation.
In one clip, Chaffetz says: “Anything that Mueller is doing with this investigation is tainted by the fact that you have these people who had a political objective to take down Donald Trump. They document it in their interactions on text messages.”

It appears that the president clearly likes what he’s hearing about the report on his favorite morning talk show.
