Dogs at polling stations are helping bark out the vote in the U.K.

They’re working towards a pawfect democracy.

People across the U.K. are turning out to vote in Britain’s parliamentary election and, this time, they’re bringing their dogs.

So if what some are calling the highest-stakes election since World War 2 isn’t enough incentive for the British to go out and vote, a chance to pet these boys and girls should seal the deal.

This little lad, in his fetching Scottish flag bandana, was the very first dog at his local polling station. Let’s all cheer for Rok and his commitment to democracy.

And lots of other pups were up bright and early in the cold to help their humans vote.

The election included this very good girl who at 14 years of age has taken part in three whole elections.

Some pups even got Christmas-y with it, wearing light-up collars or adorable little Christmas sweaters.

One polling station got really into it, with reindeer and Santa’s sleigh outside, and a democracy pupper got right on in and posed in the sleigh.

Another polling station however totally failed to get into the spirit of things, with this poor little guy tied up outside just under the “No dogs allowed” sign.

The people of Twitter demand justice on his behalf.

Polls close at 10, so there’s plenty of time to go and hang about outside your local polling station and pet all the dogs.
