A woman on Yelp complained about a bodega cat—and New Yorkers weren't having it

No one likes a tattletale.

Yes technically it’s not legal to keep a cat in your store. And sure some people might be allergic, but bodega cats are an accepted part of life in New York City. They scare away mice, and who doesn’t want to pet a fluffy little stranger while they wait to buy cigarettes and Reese’s cups?

That’s why the good people of New York were none too happy when someone got on Yelp and narced out this handsome guy.

Other people were also quick to jump to the feline’s defense.

Bottom line: Not everybody in New York likes cats. But they all hate a rat.

What if New York City real-estate brokers ran a bodega?
You can always spot an apartment-for-rent ad on Craigslist, with its tell-tale dialect of random caps locks, asterisks, and exclamation points. This lingua franca of Internet real estate has evolved from an environment of brokers pedaling overpriced, windowless sublets.
