If you wear glasses, you know that bumping your spectacles during a kiss is the adult equivalent of getting your braces snagged on those of your eighth-grade girlfriend—without the part where someone’s mom has to run downstairs to help extract you from each other with a pair of pliers.
But now there’s hope for the vision-impared crowd, in the form of the “kiss eyeglasses,” a double-sided pair of glasses for two near-sighted people to wear while making out.
Created by Tokyo-based glasses manufacturer Blinc Vase (of course these babies come from Japan), the glasses feature two sets of temples (or arms, as you probably refer to them as) on both sides of the frames. Two people can then don the glasses at the same time, creating the effect of their faces being fused together with a pint of Elmer’s Glue.
Of course, most glasses-wearers, as a rule, take off their glasses before getting hot and heavy, thus negating the necessity of such a product. And given the lofty price tag of the glasses—they cost 68,000 yen, or $620 USD each—it seems unlikely they’re intended for practical use. Oh well. Thanks for the cute novelty product, Blinc Vase! Can we shift our focus to developing no-snag orthodontia now?
