This time-lapse Queen tribute took 3 years and 1,100 selfies
More than three years ago, Matt Perren got the idea to animate photos of himself to a song. He’d take a photo or two every day until he had 1,000 frames to work with.
He bounced the idea off a friend, who suggested that he set his project to Queen.
“I made a very simple lip sync animation for the song, and adjusted the frame rate to determine how long I’d have to take pictures for,” he explained in a YouTube comment. “Then everyday I’ve taken two pictures [one for the start and one for the end of the video] and they gradually make their way towards the middle of the video.”
After 1,101 days, he had his video. Even as you watch Perren lip-synching, you can see him grow older and younger again before your eyes.
It might not be an Olympic feat, like these selfies—but it’s no less impressive.
