Nineteen-year emergency response veteran Celiomar Ferreira do Couto filmed a dog chasing after his ambulance this month. Ferreira do Couto was transporting its owner—an unidentified seizure victim—to a Taguatinga, Brazil hospital.
Ferreira do Couto told Brazilian newspaper Globo that he’s never seen this type of reaction from a pet and that it shows “the love the animal has for the owner.”
Touched, Ferreira do Couto let the fearlessly loyal dog on-board where it sat next to his owner as he went in and out of consciousness on the ride to the hospital. Once at the hospital, it stayed beside his owner as he lay on a stretcher, passed out.
Ferreira do Couto said he didn’t follow-up with the victim or its dog, but let’s hope that the man quickly recovered and is presently relaxing with the steadfast pup back home.
