In 20 years, all anyone will remember from last night’s presidential debate will be Hillary Clinton’s shimmy.

After opening the night strong, focused on his core outsider themes, Donald Trump spent the second half of the debate on the ropes, taking wild, defensive swings about his support of the Obama birther conspiracy, his taxes, and Rosie O’Donnell.

It was not ideal timing to tout his temperament, but he went there. Here’s the transcript from the Washington Post. (You can view the segment in full here.)

“I have a much better—she spent—let me tell you—she spent hundreds of millions of dollars on an advertising—you know, they get Madison Avenue into a room, they put names—oh, temperament, let's go after—I think my strongest asset, maybe by far, is my temperament. I have a winning temperament. I know how to win. She does not have a...,” Trump said.

HOLT: Why is your judgment—why is your judgment any different than Mrs. Clinton's judgment?

TRUMP: Well, I have much better judgment than she does. There's no question about that. I also have a much better temperament than she has, you know?

(LAUGHTER)

HOLT: Secretary Clinton?

TRUMP: Wait. The AFL-CIO the other day, behind the blue screen, I don't know who you were talking to, Secretary Clinton, but you were totally out of control. I said, there's a person with a temperament that's got a problem.

Clinton’s response was priceless. With a simple “Whew, OK,” she dusted her shoulders off with poise and a smile, letting the absurdity of Trump’s comments sink in for a moment. Then she went to work.
