A slip of the tongue. Probably.

It wouldn’t be an address from President Donald Trump without a horribly botched word in front of the entire nation.

And at tonight’s State of the Union, the president delivered, declaring California a “stank-uary” state.

He meant “sanctuary.”

In a lengthy section of the second half of his speech, Trump went in on illegal immigration. He used part of it to attack sanctuary cities, where illegal immigrants can go to police for concerns, without fear of being reported.

“The State of California passed an outrageous law declaring their whole State to be a sanctuary for criminal illegal immigrants—with catastrophic results,” Trump said.

Except he botched the pronunciation.

Some of Trump’s biggest fans thought it was an intentional insult, at the left-leaning boogeyman of a state.

Others thought it was just one of Trump’s patented word slurs.

Or a new Outkast album.

It was probably just a slip of the tongue.
