The Netflix executive who downplayed Danny Masterson‘s rape reports—to one of his accusers—has been fired.
Netflix confirmed that it had let go Andy Yeatman, the former director of global kids content, on Monday night.
“Mr. Yeatman is no longer employed at Netflix,” a Netflix spokeswoman said, according to the Hollywood Reporter.
Yeatman had come under fire last week after HuffPost reported that he told one of Masterson’s accusers that “we don’t believe them.” The woman approached Yeatman at a kids’ soccer game and asked him why Netflix hadn’t taken any action after multiple women came forward with their stories about Masterson. (Masterson has denied all allegations.) Masterson has been under investigation since March but the case has “inexplicably stalled.”
After telling her that Netflix didn’t believe the women coming forward, the woman revealed to Yeatman that she was one of the accusers.
Netflix announced it was writing Masterson out of The Ranch soon after that report surfaced and condemned Yeatman’s actions.
“Mr. Yeatman’s comments were careless, uninformed and do not represent the views of the company,” Netflix said at the time. “Further, he would have no insights into decision making on The Ranch. We are aware of the allegations against Danny Masterson and we are following the current investigation, and will respond if developments occur.”
