Virtual reality’s biggest selling point can also its biggest drawback in the wrong setting.

VR creates a fully immersive experience, putting the user into different fantasy worlds. The 360-degree viewing and surround sound detaches you from what’s really happening around you.

That makes it terribly inconvenient for VR porn—one of the platform’s biggest early selling points—and leads to hilarious encounters like the one Australian YouTube star Natalie Tran captured on video yesterday.

In the Valentine’s Day-themed post, Tran attempts to get her boyfriend by lip-syncing different pop ballads, from Adele’s “Someone Like You” to Toni Braxton’s “Unbreak My Heart,” but he’s too dialed-in to his Oculus Rift game to notice.

The video is almost certainly staged—Tran says in the description that it “isn’t a normal video” and that she “made it quickly for fun”—but she’s tapping into something deeper here. If you feel like you’re often competing with your partner’s smartphone for attention, just wait until that person discovers VR. Things will never be the same.
