President Donald Trump has been shaking up his legal team in recent weeks, and at least one Craigslist ad wants to help him find the perfect candidate moving forward.
John Dowd, an attorney for the president’s defense of Robert Mueller‘s Russia probe, left last week, despite just days earlier the president claiming he was “very happy” with his legal team. Then therre was a bit of will-they-wont-they with Trump hiring Joseph DiGenova, a “deep state” conspiracy theory peddling lawyer who frequently appeared on Fox News.
With so much upheaval in Trump’s legal sphere, perhaps this fake Craigslist ad will help the president find someone can settle things down.
The ad, posted on Tuesday, was placed by someone named “General John” (clearly referencing Chief of Staff John Kelly) in the “legal / paralegal” section of the Washington D.C. Craigslist.
The ad seeks a “lead attorney for a difficult client” at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, also known as the White House.
At least one of the necessary qualifications for the job is pretty straightforward. The ad seeks someone with knowledge of laws surrounding “discovery, executive privilege, international financing of licensed real estate, election law and the Logan Act.”
Other qualifications are clearly poking fun at Trump.
- “Working knowledge of social media, especially Twitter is a plus.”
- “Better than average knowledge of the adult film industry and a collection of Playboy magazines from 1985-2010.”
- “Must look the part – Gregory Peck or Tommy Lee Jones type.”
- “Prior appearances on Fox News a huge plus.”
- “Must be prepared to work with a client who is very forceful and opinionated about his defense and is his own best counsel.”
The creator of the ad told The Daily Dot in an email that the idea of the president using Craigslist “seemed like the kind of trailing edge technology he might employ without irony.”
The ad has received a “few responses” to it—including one that thanked the creator for a “chuckle during a dispiriting job search” and another person who called them an “immature, unemployed butthurt liberal with no friends or hobbies.”
The ad sums the job as such:
“Basically your job boils down to keeping him from testifying under oath and hoping the rest comes out in the wash.”
But hey, if you’re lucky enough to land the gig you’ll be compensated by a client who is “a hugely wealthy man. Hugely successful. Everyone says it.”
