A whole lot of innovation was served up at the latest Apple event, including a new MacBook and key updates to the Apple TV. What’s missing with this feast to the eyes? New standalone displays.

According to the Verge’s Nilay Patel, an updated monitor won’t be hitting the Apple store anytime soon. Or, in fact, ever. The company appears to be getting out of the monitor game.

This certainly explains why Apple’s touting the LG UltraFine 5K monitor, which it added a listing for on Saturday. That item will be available for purchase in December and will cost around $1,300. This could mean some serious discounts for Apple monitors come the winter holidays when the company traditionally has its big annual sale.
