YouTuber Matthew Roberts has been punctually providing us monthly updates of Apple’s in-development campus since he started posting 4K drone videos 12 months ago. His latest update comes just weeks before Apple employees start moving into the impressive 2.8 million square foot building, and things seem to be moving along nicely.
This gigantic structure has come a long way in a short amount of time, as you can see from Roberts’ latest high-quality footage. There still appears to be a lot of work to do, but the Colosseum-like main building is a sight to behold.
Apple Park, previously dubbed the “Spaceship,” is a 175 acre-campus in the heart of Santa Clara Valley in California. The tech giant says it will feature a staggering 700,000 square feet of solar panels and a 1,000-seat theater named after Steve Jobs.
Apple worked with an architectural design company to turn 5 million square feet of concrete into grassy fields and drought-resistant trees. The company claims the campus is powered entirely by renewable energy.
“Steve was exhilarated, and inspired, by the California landscape, by its light and its expansiveness,” said Laurene Powell Jobs, according to Apple. “It was his favorite setting for thought. Apple Park captures his spirit uncannily well. He would have flourished, as the people of Apple surely will, on this luminously designed campus.”
Twelve thousand people are expected to be working in the building by the end of this month. We look forward to seeing what progress is made in the May edition of this video, if Apple allows it.
