Just as all your scones will turn to samosas and all your pounds will turn to rupees, all your Pakistani-born Internet sensations will soon be deported from their adopted homes and told to get their papers in order.
That’s currently the case for Muhammad Shahid Nazir, the enigmatic man behind the electric viral sensation “One Pound Fish,” who just this week ran out of time on his visa and got sent back to his hometown of Pattoki by the British government.
According to The Bangkok Post, the affable Nazir will file for a French visa in hopes that he’ll be able to reenter London and continue wrecking shop around all corners of the Internet.
Nazir, who’s long been somewhat of a local legend around London’s Queens Market, first entered into the international newswire in early December when his comically terrible dance sensation “One Pound Fish” racked up more than 500,000 views in less than 24 hours.
In the weeks since, “One Pound Fish” has climbed up to a staggering 8.9 million views, making it quite possibly the most popular song about fish since Heart released “Barracuda.”
We can now only hope that Nazir will receive his French visa and subsequent entitlement to return to London, as fish mongering has become unspeakably boring around Queens Market in the days since his departure.
