New Jersey Governor Chris Christie has had a rough few weeks. The deeply unpopular governor was at the center of the state’s government shutdown and subsequently spent some of his Fourth of July weekend lounging on a beach that was closed to the public, where he was spotted by an intrepid photojournalist.

Recently, it was revealed that Christie also received a verbal beat down from President Donald Trump on election night because the then president-elect did not want to use the governor’s phone.

So it shouldn’t come as a shock that New York Mets fans let him have it after he caught a foul ball at a baseball game on Tuesday night.

There was a polite cheer from the stands before they knew who exactly had caught the foul ball. But once fans realized who had made the left-handed catch, loud boos erupted from the stands.

Even the announcers for the Cardinals couldn’t help but poke fun at Christie—who is considered the least popular governor in the United States.

“Nice to see him get from the beach here to the ballpark,” the announcer said. To be fair, the governor did hand the ball to a kid who was seated nearby.

Christie, a longtime fan of the Mets and Dallas Cowboys, might want to get used drawing the ire of the New York/New Jersey sports fan base. Earlier this month, Christie tried out for a spot on WFAN, an extremely popular sports-talk radio station. During that audition, he called one person who phoned in a “communist” after they brought up his beach going fracas.
