The latest update to Apple’s iOS 8 is here—and this time it won’t turn your phone into an expensive brick.
The iOS 8.0.2 update will, the company says, fix any issues experienced by iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus users who downloaded iOS 8.0.1 earlier this week. The latter version of Apple’s mobile operating system disabled cell service and Touch ID functionality from on the newly released iPhones. Apple quickly pulled the update after a flood of user outcry.
Apple says iOS 8.0.2 will also fix the bugs iOS 8.0.1 was intended to address, in addition to restoring cell connectivity and Touch ID functionality.
In a statement to the Daily Dot, Apple said the company is sorry for “inconveniencing” users with the original faulty update:
“iOS 8.0.2 is now available for users, it fixes an issue that affected iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus users who downloaded iOS 8.0.1, and includes improvements and bug fixes originally in iOS 8.0.1. We apologize for inconveniencing the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus users who were impacted by the bug in iOS 8.0.1.”
We have yet to see any user complaints with iOS 8.0.2, so update away, and let us know if things get weird.
