The FBI released a statement today saying protocols were not followed when it received a tip about the Parkland shooter on Jan. 5. Nikolas Cruz killed 17 people when he opened fire on Feb. 14 at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School.

The tip says the FBI was provided information about Nikolas Cruz’s “gun ownership, desire to kill people, erratic behavior, and disturbing social media posts, as well as the potential of him conducting a school shooting.” According to the statement, the information the FBI received was not properly forwarded to their Miami field office.

Meanwhile, it was confirmed that on his Instagram account, Cruz sported a Make America Great Again hat in his profile picture.

Cruz wore the hat for more than just his profile picture. Video submitted by one of Cruz’s neighbors shows him shooting a BB gun while wearing the hat in October.

The neighbor told TMZ cops were called to Cruz’s home 39 times for “strange and violent behavior.” Additionally, kids in the neighborhood say Cruz was unhinged, violent toward animals and flew off the handle for no apparent reason.

In addition to Cruz’s profile photo, his Instagram was filled with violent content.
