Man, a lot has happened in past 12 hours.

So much so, that you might be forgiven if you already forgot that one of the bigger and weirder stories of yesterday was that Snoop Dogg dropped a new music video that includes a faux assassination of a clown dressed as the president.

That was quickly overshadowed by Rachel Maddow, though, and most everyone has moved on to that big story.

Well, except one person.

I honestly can not imagine what the outcry would be. I’m certain there would be some. But I can imagine, with absolute certainty, that if Snoop Dogg staged a mock assassination of Barack Obama in a music video, he would not have gone to jail.

For example, musician Ted Nugent once said he wanted Obama to “suck on my machine gun.” He did not receive jail time for that because that is not—distasteful as you may find it—something we jail people for in this country.

Like, it’s kind of one of our founding principles.
