As “Karens” continue to wild out across the United States, can any state definitively claim them? A viral Karen freakout video from Broward County, Florida, makes a strong case for the Sunshine State.
The video, uploaded to TikTok by Jessica Torres (@jessicaaeyleen), shows a Karen melting down on a public bus, yanking on the stop-request cord, and screaming at the driver to let her off. Most of her screaming is unintelligible, but she clearly yells, “Jesus fucking Christ, come on!” as other passengers watch with a mixture of shock and horror.
“Pulling the thing ain’t gonna do anything,” another passenger says.
In a series of follow-up videos, Torres explained that Karen got on the bus in an “obviously belligerent” state, fighting with her boyfriend and other passengers. They both left, much to everyone’s relief, but Karen then got back on the bus to retrieve an item her boyfriend had left onboard.
Karen allegedly told the driver she was getting right back off the bus, but after making everybody’s journey a living hell, the driver wasn’t having it. Torres said the driver took off with Karen still on the bus, probably just for a laugh, and that’s when Karen went nuclear.
The driver eventually relented and let Karen disembark, at which point she howled, “Fuck your mom, bitch!”
Perhaps the most absurd part about Karen’s bus freakout is the ridiculous way she’s wearing her face mask. It’s folded into a thin strip, wrapped underneath her nose, and tied behind her head. It provides no protection whatsoever as her mouth and nose are uncovered, and it looks more like a horse bit than a face mask.
“Was that the G-String of covid masks?” one TikTok user commented on Torres’ video.
“Yo I didn’t know Victoria Secret’s selling masks,” another wrote.
Users also roasted Karen for seemingly mistaking the stop request cord as an emergency brake, and for trying to pull open a push door.
Parting is such sweet sorrow, but at least the passengers got a daily dose of entertainment before Karen exited the bus and perhaps went on to terrorize another group of unsuspecting citizens.
