Tonight marks the start of the 2015-2016 pro basketball season, and the NBA, Turner Sports, and nextVR have combined forces to livestream the season-opening game between the Golden State Warriors and the New Orleans Pelicans on Samsung Gear VR devices.

Fans using the virtual reality experience will reportedly also be able to watch the Warriors’ championship ring ceremony for the 2014-2015 season, which will happen on the court prior to the game.

This will be the first time the NBA airs a live game in virtual reality. The game itself will also air live at 10:30pm ET on TNT.

The virtual-reality game comes just two days after the NFL and Yahoo saw a huge success with their own livestreaming experiment. If the VR game goes just as well, these new developments could spell exciting changes for cord-cutting sports fans.
