Minutes after a St. Louis county grand jury decided to not indict Ferguson Police officer Darren Wilson for shooting and killing Michael Brown. The results were hardly a surprise and protests broke out across America’s largest cities.

Police departments in New York, Chicago, and Los Angeles were in city-wide tactical alert in preparation for demonstrations.

“Thousands” of protesters in multiple locations, including Manhattan’s Union Square, began to march down nearby avenues as soon as the decision was announced.

In Chicago, protesters likewise began to march and chant north in the country’s third largest city.

In Los Angeles, the country’s second largest city, protests seem much smaller at this early stage.

Other major cities around the country are seeing protests as well.
