Roof, 18, was found with marijuana, pepper spray, and a knife, at her school in South Carolina, according to a local newspaper. Roof also posted a message on Snapchat claiming that she hoped students participating in National Walkout Day would “get shot.”
“Your [sic] walking out for the allowed time of 17min, they are letting you do this, nothing is gonna change what tf you think it’s gonna do? I hope it’s a trap and y’all get shot we know it’s fixing to be nothing but black people walkin out anyway. No offense ofc buuut,” Morgan Roof posted.

NPR reports that AC Flora High School learned of the Snapchat post and contacted authorities.
The school’s principal, Susan Childs, said in a letter to parents that the social media post was “not a threat, but was extremely inappropriate,” adding that the situation was “dealt with in a swift and severe manner as the posting caused quite a disruption.” On Twitter, South Carolina Governor Henry McMaster (R) said a “potential tragedy was avoided” at the school.
Morgan Roof appeared in court on Wednesday and her bond was set at $5,000. She was also ordered not to return to the incident location, according to WACH-TV.
Other social media posts have led to arrests in recent weeks.
