Former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg may reconsider his decision not to enter the 2020 presidential fray if former Vice President Joe Biden decides not to run or stumbles out of the gate.

Axios reported on Tuesday that Bloomberg, who announced in early March he would not enter the 2020 presidential election, may flip on that decision especially if Biden—who is facing allegations of inappropriate touching—fizzles out.

The news outlet cited “people who have discussed the matter” with the former mayor.

Bloomberg’s potential run likely would have focused on many of the voters that Biden is expected to try and court.

Axios reports that a possible primary with both men in it would have been “a bloody fight for the same slice of voters.”

However, if Biden drops in polls—or decides against running altogether—it could leave room for the billionaire former mayor to jump into the race.

The idea that Bloomberg could rejoin the 2020 race didn’t sit well with some people online.
