The FBI is continuing its investigation into former Subway spokesperson Jared Fogle, and subpoenaed an affidavit containing texts allegedly sent between a former Subway franchisee and Fogle, Business Insider reports.
In text message conversations between January and June 2008, Fogle reportedly asked the woman to advertise sex acts on Craigslist and admits to paying for sex with a 16-year-old girl.
The woman’s lawyer told Business Insider she and Fogle were in a relationship at the time, but she began to feel uncomfortable and reported Fogle’s behavior to Subway, and asked the sandwich chain to remove his advertisements from her store. Subway did nothing, and now denies any report of the woman’s complaints.
Law enforcement officials raided Fogle’s home in early July, reportedly in connection to child pornography. Russell Taylor, the executive director of Fogle’s children’s charity, was arrested in April on child pornography charges.
Business Insider claims to have verified the authenticity of the alleged text messages.
On June 19, the lawyer says that Fogle again asked the woman to advertise herself on Craigslist. She responds: “Is this the same website you found that 16 year old girl you that you f*****? …I still can’t believe you only paid $100 for her.”
Fogle responds: “It was amazing!!!!”
She asks: “What part of her ad made you think she was selling sex?”
He says: “U will have to read them to see.”
Fogle has not yet been charged with any crime. In Indiana, where Fogle resides, the age of consent is 16.
