With a brief, sub-two-minute Thanksgiving video, Trump asked citizens to join him.

“Now begins a great national campaign to rebuild our country,” Trump said, without getting into specifics. “I’m asking you to join me in this effort.”

Trump addressed the turmoil of the presidential election.

“It’s my prayer that on this Thanksgiving we begin to heal our divisions and move forward as one country, strengthened by shared purpose,” he said, before conceding that “emotions are raw and tensions just don’t heal overnight.”

But the video was also a call to America’s urban centers and inner cities—which voted overwhelmingly against Trump.

“We have before us the chance to make history together,” he said, stressing that U.S. inner cities are “so important to me, and so important to our country.”

This week Trump tapped a new secretary of education, CIA director, and met with a candidate for Homeland Security secretary. He also scrapped a campaign pledge to prosecute his Democratic challenger Hillary Clinton, a move that sent some of his supporters into an online revolt.
