If you were wondering whether the newer, bigger iPhones were going to be as popular as the previously smaller models, you can put those thoughts to rest. Apple announced today that customers ordered 4 million iPhones in the first 24 hours of availability.

“iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus are better in every way, and we are thrilled customers love them as much as we do,” said Apple CEO Tim Cook in a statement. “Pre-orders for iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus set a new record for Apple, and we can’t wait to get our best iPhones yet into the hands of customers starting this Friday.”

The iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus officially go on sale on Friday, September 19th.

Apple is expected to have another record holiday quarter for iPhone sales, after selling over 50 million iPhones in three months last holiday season. Shipping time for iPhone pre-orders have fallen from days to weeks with so many people clamoring for Apple’s newest toy.

If you want to get your hands on a new iPhone 6 or iPhone 6 Plus on Friday, your best bet will be to stand in line with the rest of the sane people who didn’t stay up until 3am on a weeknight to order a phone, like I did.
