A Costco employee is being praised online after taking away a shopping cart from a customer who refused to wear a mask.

The video, filmed by the customer, shows a worker named Tison explaining Costco’s guidelines pertaining to the coronavirus pandemic.

“Hi, everyone,” Tison begins. “I work for Costco and I’m asking this member to put on a mask because that is our company policy.”

The customer, who brags that the video will be seen by his 3,000 Instagram followers, responds by claiming that the company’s guidelines are somehow infringing on his rights.

“I’m not doing it because I woke up in a free country,” the customer says.

But as the employee begins taking away the shopping cart, the customer suddenly becomes less concerned about his imagined oppression.

“Sir, have a great day. You are no longer welcome here in our warehouse,” Tison says. “You need to leave. Thank you very much.”

Even as the customer tries to work out an arrangement, Tison can be seen walking away.

“He’s going to take the cart away because he’s a p*ssy little bitch,” the customer says. “There he is walking away with all my stuff. There he goes.”

The customer concludes his video by proclaiming that he won’t wear a mask because he isn’t a “sheep.”

Tison was immediately cheered online, with numerous people calling for the worker to receive a pay raise.

Others accused the customer of showing up only to film and cause trouble.

“Good on @Costco,” @demond218 said. “They made the announcement weeks ago that every member will be required to wear a mask. This asshole went in there just to cause a scene!”

Many also noted the customer’s flawed argument given that Costco is a private business, not a government entity.

“Woke up in a free country and then walked right onto private property,” @Hobarticusses joked.

Costco’s commitment to protecting the wellbeing of its members was also highlighted.

“This is exactly why I’m okay with my 70-year-old parents shopping at Costco,” @anonymau583 added.

Tison is not the first food service employee to be applauded online for having to deal with an unreasonable consumer.

An employee at a Gelson’s supermarket in California was also cheered for joyously dancing as an angry woman threw a fit over the store’s mask policy.
