Featured Storify: What it’s like to be retweeted by Obama

Getting retweeted by the president kind of "sucked."

At the Daily Dot, we’re big fans of Storify. It’s both a tool we use to tell stories and a community of other storytellers. When the Web reacts to a big news event, we’ll use Storify to bring you the best recaps and explainers.

Most of our Featured Storifys are recaps of huge breaking news events, but today’s is a bit different. Last Friday, the Presidential Twitter account @BarackObama asked his followers to finish the sentence, “#ILikeObamaCare because…”. Laura Hazard Owen, a writer for the online news site paidContent, answered the call and was retweeted by the big man himself.

But she wasn’t prepared for what happened next, when opponents of the Affordable Care Act came out in droves to attack Owen and her family, revealing what she calls the “angry and soul-sucking” side of Twitter:
