Praise the streaming gods! Popcorn Time might be coming back.

Just last week, a magical service called Popcorn Time surfaced, bringing nearly any movie or TV show you could imagine straight to your screen. 12 Years a Slave, American Hustle, Gravity—all there! Amazing!

And you know, probably not super legal. While the site defended itself, saying that it wasn’t hosting anything, no one was making money, and there were no ads or subscription fees for it to build a business model off of, it was shut down and removed from Mega. Only briefly were we able to access the beautiful magic of Popcorn Time.

But! It appears it could be back soon. According to Torrent Freak, downloading and torrenting site YTS will be taking over the project as soon as possible.

“The YTS team will now be picking up the Popcorn Time project and continuing on like previously,” YTS told Torrent Freak. “We are in a better position copyright wise… because [it will] build on our API, it’s as if we have built another interface to our website. We are no worse off managing the project than we would be just supplying the movies.”

The team says that the discussion Popcorn Time started around sharing and copyright is something that the industry and consumers need to see.

So now the work on the project continues. According to the report, a new installer should be available soon. We’ll be waiting with baited breath, and trolling the back catalogs of Netflix, missing Popcorn Time more and more every second.
