On Monday morning, Taylor Swift tweeted a mysterious new video.
This comes after Swift’s social media was deleted on Friday, and her website went dark. Fans of course speculated that a new album (or announcement) was coming soon. The short clip drove the fandom into a frenzy.

The video shows what appears to be a reptilian tail. This could be a reference to the snake emoji Swift was spammed with last summer, after a feud with Kim Kardashian. But fans have gone full-on True Detective season 1 with another theory about Monday’s total eclipse, and Swift’s imminent album. One working theory is that Swift will announce a new album during the eclipse, or that it will have something to do with the eclipse. Or space.
