Kristen Stewart and CHVRCHES have teamed up for a good cause.
The Scottish pop group released a video for a live version of their song “Down Side of Me” Friday, directed by none other than Stewart herself. The release is part of 7-inches for Planned Parenthood, a series of limited-edition, seven-inch records launched to raise money for the organization. Other participants include Björk, Mary J. Blige, John Legend, Margaret Atwood, Mitski, Sharon Van Etten, Jenny Slate, Sleater-Kinney, St. Vincent, Margaret Cho, and Bon Iver.
The song is off the group’s most recent album, Every Open Eye, and while singer Lauren Mayberry said via press release that it wasn’t written with Planned Parenthood in mind, the lyrics definitely touch on the idea of accountability:
“Down Side Of Me” was not written specifically for this project but I really like how the lyrics can be interpreted in a way that supports the goal of the project as a whole. We should all be able to have faith that our governments are working in our best interests—and if they aren’t then, they should be challenged and held to account.
