This article contains spoilers for the first episode of Brooklyn Nine-Nine season 6.
Brooklyn Nine-Nine returned for a sixth season Thursday night, and the first episode aired on NBC—its new home after getting canceled by Fox in 2018. Fans of the show need not worry that having a new home network would change anything else about the show. “The Brooklyn Nine-Nine that premieres Thursday night on NBC is essentially the Brooklyn Nine-Nine you remember from Fox. That’s a very good thing, indeed,” the Hollywood Reporter noted.
The season opened with a bang on Twitter, as the platform instantly exploded with fans “going coconuts” about the episode while it was airing, spurred on by cast members like Melissa Fumero (Amy Santiago), Joe Lo Truglio (Charles Boyle), Stephanie Beatriz (Rosa Diaz), and Chelsea Peretti (Gina Linetti), who were livetweeting their reactions to scenes and responding to fans.

The first episode, called “Honeymoon,” picked up right where the fifth season left off, with newly married Jake Peralta (Andy Samberg) and Santiago off to their honeymoon, but with an unexpected companion: Captain Raymond Holt (Andre Braugher), who went on vacation at the same resort after he lost his bid to become NYPD commissioner (the answer to the previous season’s final cliffhanger).
“Honeymoon” was successful as an opener on its brand-new network. “Not only does it impressively accomplish everything it needs to do in one fell swoop, it also does so while keeping the humor level up and setting up for some interesting dynamics moving forward. In that case, it is absolutely exemplary,” observes the AV Club.
If there’s one thing “Honeymoon” definitely succeeded in doing, it’s providing fans a wealth of memes to tide them over until the second episode airs next Thursday or longer. Here are some of our favorites:
