For cat owners, there are a few glimpses into pure, unfettered feline weirdness that one must remain vigilant to spot in the wild. Among my personal favorites is cat-that-doesn’t-know-its-tongue-is-stuck-out, which explains Lil Bub’s explosive rise to Internet cat fame.
Another is something my cat does by holding her mouth sort of agape in a manner resembling a lioness, a moment I always foolishly herald by shouting “LIONMOUTH” as if that were a thing at all, startling her back into normalcy.
The cat moment below depicts another of these brushes with feline transcendence: Cat stalking bird it has no hope of catching. At least, we think that’s what happening.
Its fixed stare and high pitched gurgling sounds indeed suggest that this cat might be in need of repair. That or this particular specimen is witnessing something wholly imperceptible to these paltry human senses of ours. A fleeting peek into the spirit world? Bipartisan healthcare reform? Something otherworldly indeed.
