‘Fantastic Four’ cast interview goes off the rails in the most sexist, racist way possible

It ended with creepy comments about Kate Mara’s toes.

Eighteen months after Michael B. Jordan was cast as the Human Torch in Fantastic Four, we assumed that everyone had gotten all the stupid, racist comments out of their systems.

Apparently not.

During an interview with the radio show Rock 100.5 Atlanta, Jordan and his co-star Kate Mara had to tolerate a confused torrent of sexist, racist, and otherwise stupid questions. After expressing total bafflement about how a white woman and a black man could play siblings Sue and Johnny Storm (“But how does that happen?”), shock jock Steven J. Rickman started making weird comments about Kate Mara’s appearance.

“You’re way, way hot,” Rickman began, before segueing into a series of irrelevant questions about why Mara had cut her hair short.

The interview eventually ended after Rickman said to Mara, “I’m a toe guy, your toes are fine.”

DJ Jason Bailey later defended his co-host’s comments, saying, “Steve likes girl’s toes. People should be appreciative when they get complimented.”

This interview has it all: racist questions, unnecessary comments about a woman’s appearance, and a total lack of meaningful interest in the movie at hand. At long last, we may have found the perfect storm of awkward press junket moments. Congratulations, Rock 100.5 Atlanta!
