When YouTube user dylannut69’s grandfather swallowed a nail as a child, it left him with an unusually low voice. Fortunately for the world, it hasn’t stopped him from showing off his singing skills.
At his grandson’s insistence, the friendly old-timer belts out a super-baritone rendition of the 1949 tune “That Lucky Old Sun.” It is quite beautiful, even though it sounds like it is being sung in slow motion.
Compare it with the most popular recording of the song, which was performed by Frankie Laine (in addition to an extensive musical career, Laine was also known for singing the theme song to Mel Brooks’ landmark comedy Blazing Saddles).
The video recently exploded on Reddit, where redditors came up with phrases they would love to hear the old man speak with his unusual voice.
“Please release a christmas album, nail-swallow-guy,” redditor StCol wrote.
“I would pay a pretty penny to hear him ask “Who wants a body massage?” redditor stereoworld added.
Personally, I am hoping that dylannut69’s grandfather will soon tackle Barry White’s catalog.
