Hamilton creator Lin-Manuel Miranda is still the hardest working man in show business. Shortly after finishing work on Disney‘s Moana, he’s now signed up to adapt Patrick Rothfuss’ fantasy epic The Kingkiller Chronicle.
Miranda is working with Rothfuss and Lionsgate Films to turn The Kingkiller Chronicle into a movie and TV franchise, with the possibility of a stage spinoff as well. According to Deadline, Miranda will act as co-producer, and he’ll be composing new music and songs for the franchise.

The Kingkiller Chronicle consists of two books so far, with a third on the way. The series focuses on a musician and poetic adventurer named Kvothe, and features a supporting cast of Game of Thrones-like proportions.
While the first movie will be a direct adaptation of the first book, The Name of the Wind, the TV series will expand the Kingkiller Chronicle universe with new characters from a collaboration between Miranda and Rothfuss. It’s an ambitious project, and the musical elements will certainly set it apart from other fantasy franchises.
