I take comfort in knowing that no kid in a costume is going to make it up to my sixth-floor apartment to ask for candy on Halloween—but if having a more accessible front door meant a visit from these canine trick-or-treaters, I’d move to the suburbs in a heartbeat.
The two lemon beagles in this YouTube clip, Maymo and his little sister Penny, appear in a variety of guises, from monkey and cat to bear and Teletubby, not to mention almost every character from Star Wars (keep an eye out for an impressively upright Princess Leia).
For their efforts, and their wholly unlikely patience—if I tried to put such outfits on my dogs they probably wouldn’t acknowledge me for a month afterward—the pups are rewarded with treats including gourds, cigarettes, and… handcuffs? (I wouldn’t go back to that house next year.) Anyway, they seem to like the popcorn, which is fortunate: Otherwise, imagine the tricks these two could get up to.
