The porno’s called The Forbidden Legend of Sex and Chopsticks, and last week, hundreds of people in the south China city of Jilin knew about it because an IT worker trying to fix a public projection screen ended up broadcasting 10 minutes of the video to anybody outside to see it.

Yuan Mou, a technician for the Fujian Kewei Optical Company, was called out to Jilin to fix a problem with a projection screen that had been broken to some degree since June. When he showed up, he hooked his laptop up to the screen, which is used to play ads for the Southern Advertising Company over Jilin’s train station, in an effort to fix it. He was successful, but he failed at disconnecting the cable connecting the two objects.

The technician, having successfully completed his job, then decided to go and celebrate with a rousing round of pornography, queueing up The Forbidden Legend of Sex and Chopsticks (known in China as Xin Jin Ping Mei) and letting the video play for ten minutes before figuring out what he’d done.

In that time, the good people of Jilin laid witness to more chopstick-affiliated sex than they probably ever wanted to lay their eyes upon.

Police took Mou into custody for questioning on Friday, and he confirmed all their allegations: He’d been called out to fix the screen; he fixed the screen; he never disconnected the connection cord; he might have a fetish for chopstick sex. According to reports, those same police are still investigating the incident
