Netflix’s The Dragon Prince is so hotly anticipated that it (somehow) inspired its own fan podcast before we’d seen a single clip. So, we were naturally curious to see whether its first trailer would live up to the hype.

Co-created by Avatar: The Last Airbender head writer Aaron Ehasz and director Giancarlo Volpe (who directed 19 episodes of Avatar), The Dragon Prince is a fantasy adventure series. The main characters are a pair of princes, Callum and Ezran, who form an unlikely friendship with an elf assassin (Rayla) who was sent to kill them. As you can probably guess, it also involves dragons.

The first trailer debuted at San Diego Comic-Con this weekend, introducing an art style that combines CGI with line-drawn animation.

The first episode also screened at SDCC, prompting a positive response from the audience—although to be honest, pretty much everything inspires a positive response at Comic-Con. We did learn a bit more about the show from the panel, though.

While obviously being kid-friendly and comedic, The Dragon Prince has a Game of Thrones vibe with its main characters being on opposing sides of an epic war. The showrunners also set out to represent a diverse cast of characters, promising LGBTQ representation on-screen—although apparently, it would be a spoiler to reveal further details.

The Dragon Prince debuts on Netflix on Sept. 14.
