It was the night before Christmas, and outside his hotel, Obama heard carolers, singing with champagne and bells.

Former President Barack Obama got into the holiday spirit last week after greeting carolers from the Winward ReSisters women’s group, which had come to spread cheer outside the Paul Mitchell estate in Lanikai, Hawaii, where he and former first lady Michelle Obama were staying.

According to movement member Darlene Mandel’s account to People, the group got together two days before Christmas to sing in front of the estate, bringing bells, champagne, and their pussy hats from the worldwide Women’s March held in January after President Donald Trump‘s inauguration.

Amid his own Christmas party he was hosting at the estate, Obama came out to hug and shake hands with carolers, even taking note of the champagne they had brought with them, before singing a few bars with the group and returning inside.

“After about 10 minutes, he came out with three Secret Service agents and I was ready with my trusty camera,” Mandel told People. “He was joking because my girlfriend spilled champagne on him. It was short and sweet and made our Christmas.”
