Ever wonder what it actually takes to grow a one-ton pumpkin?
Ben, a Bruderhof student with Down syndrome who lives in Nonington, Kent, recently won the Royal Horticultural Society London Harvest Festival with 1,248-lb pumpkin. It’s a sight to behold, and it’s interesting to see everything that went into the process. Ben worked on the compost pile all last winter and started the seeds in May. In August, he says it sucked up 600 gallons of water a week.
The final product would make enough pumpkin pie for a lifetime, or three.
It would also make one helluva Trumpkin.
