Comedian David Cross says he “stands behind” Arrested Development co-star Jeffrey Tambor following news that the actor has been fired from Amazon’s Transparent.

Tambor was finally let go from the show this month, following an internal investigation and weeks of unclear statments from the streaming giant about whether or not he’d be staying. The decision came after allegations from two members of the Transparent cast and crew, who reported sexually inappropriate interactions with Tambor while at work. Tambor firmly denied the claims at the time, and apologized if his on-set behavior had been “misinterpreted as aggressive,” but he also admitted it was hard to imagine returning to the show “given the politicized atmosphere” in Hollywood.

Now Tambor seems to have found an ally in his sometimes-co-star. The standup comedian and fellow Arrested Development star faced harassment claims of his own in late 2017 after comedian Charlyne Yi claimed he made racist comments to her the first time they met. But he’s standing by his TV father-in-law, calling Tambor’s entire situation “curious.”

“I think it’s very curious that Amazon didn’t make public the results of their internal investigation,” Cross told amNewYork. “I’m not sure why they would do that. I just know the whole thing is rather curious to me.”

He continued: “I can’t speak for everybody, but I know there are a number of us who stand behind him… From the limited amount we know, we stand behind Jeffrey—and I am one of them.”

Filming for the new season of Arrested Development reportedly wrapped in November, and it’s slated for release sometime this spring. Netflix has yet to confirm a release date.
